Four Cougars Named AA Baseball All Stars

The Kane County Cougars are sending four players to the 2024 American Association of Professional Baseball All Star Game slated for July 22-24, 2024.

Starting pitcher, Nick Belzer; relief pitcher, CJ Carter; third basemen, Claudio Finol; and designated hitter, Todd Lott will be representing the Cougars in the East Division.

Belzer has been a solid starting pitcher this season with a 5-3 record and an ERA of 3.57. Belzer’s last win came on July 3, 2024 against the Kansas City Monarchs. He went five innings allowing only one earned run and six hits.

Carter has been a reliable reliever throughout the season. He has struck out 38 batters in just 27.1 innings. Carter currently has an ERA of 3.29. In the past week, Carter has pitched 2.2 innings with four strikeouts.

Finol has been red hot! In the past ten games, he is batting .395 and has gone yard five times, bringing his season total to seven. That would also be the second most team home runs. He currently leads the team in batting average and is third in the league at .346.

Lott has been a hitting machine this season. He has 57 hits on the season, which is the most on the team. Lott has also driven in 31 runs, which is the second most on the team. In a ball game full of hits on July 5, Lott went 3-for-5.

The 2024 American Association All Star Game will be played at Legends Field in Kansas City, KS on July 23.
